Ludgero Almeida (Santo Tirso, Portugal, 1989). É artista plástico. Bolseiro de doutoramento da Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia e investigador integrado não doutorado no Instituto de Investigação em Arte, Design e Sociedade na Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto, mestre em Ensino de Artes Visuais no 3º ciclo de Ensino Básico e Secundário na Faculdade de Psicologia e Ciências da Educação da Universidade do Porto e licenciado em Artes Plásticas no Ramo de Pintura pela Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto (PT). Expõe regularmente desde 2009, destacando-se o trabalho desenvolvido no Brasil desde 2015 e que deu origem à exposição itinerante ‘Ciência de uma terra desolada’ apresentada em 2016 no Silo Espaço Cultural no Porto (PT) e em 2017 na Galeria do Centro Cultural da Universidade Federal de Goiás, em Goiânia (BR) e na Galeria Alcindo Moreira Filho no Instituto de Artes da UNESP em São Paulo (BR). Também importantes foram as exposições individuais ‘Antípodas, o absurdo na memória’ em 2013 na Galeria Gomes Alves, Guimarães (PT), em 2014 ‘O dióxido de carbono e a lâmpada estroboscópica’ e em 2015 ‘O esquecimento de Deus’ ambas no Silo Espaço Cultural no Porto (PT) e a exposição ‘Do sintoma indelével’ em 2018 no Centro Para os Assuntos de Arte e Arquitectura em Guimarães (PT). Ludgero Almeida elabora pinturas que actuam a partir do estudo das realidades históricas e da memória. Apoiando-se em arquivos, registros e fotografias, em memórias históricas ou afectivas, pretende pensar, criticar, actualizar e ver em perspectiva a contemporaneidade, gerando camadas do sensível e complexificando a relação entre o real e o fictício.

From the absent image: The cotton imaginary in the archives, narrations and traces of Vale do Ave

Abstract
The project presents itself as an investigation in art, in which artistic practice acts critically in the analysis of institutional and private archives, narrations and trace documents related to the cotton textile industry and the path of cotton on the (de)industrialized banks of Vale do Ave, in a period between the 1960s and the present. We will enter archives that concentrate, organize, preserve and illuminate objects and particular images of a hegemonic reality, which exert a power in the fabrication of truth. By problematizing the notions of time, oblivion, obsolescence and by summoning limits and intimacies that govern the construction of fiction and reality, history and the identity construction of places and people will be faced. Intimately linked to a questioning of the truthful principle of archives, powers, thefts and absences, the result is a theoretical-practical work that confronts an absent image, which is a potential history.
