Saturday

The image(s)-installation “Saturday” aspires, in the same way, to a form of disagreement - in the sense of disturbance -, deactivating the pre-existing device of the Mupi gallery, geared towards information and dissemination operations, to challenge the floating gazes of a recreational space.

Saturday

“Poetic ou Political?” Cycle
Curated by João Baeta

Poetry is, according to Espinosa, a contemplation of language. The poetic construction will be nothing more than an operation of deactivation, of conquest of a contemplative mode that allows the opening to new forms of use. The inoperative communicative and informative functions of language open new gaps or possibilities of saying. It gives it another power of saying.

The image(s)-installation “Saturday” aspires, in the same way, to a form of disagreement – in the sense of disturbance -, deactivating the pre-existing device of the Mupi gallery, geared towards information and dissemination operations, to challenge the floating gazes of a recreational space.

More than producing new images, we need today, an ecology of attention.

Our concern should not be in the furtive shooting, but in the slow sensitive fermentation of other ways of seeing.

Perhaps the first image on a roll, shot without awareness of the frame, wobbly, wavering and lame, has the strangeness needed to disconnect us from contemporary scintillations and return us to contemplation.
