Research Projects

i2ADS is a unit oriented towards producing research projects developed in a collaborative atmosphere, in partnership with higher education institutions, cultural institutions, research networks, municipalities and other organisations. Its research projects contribute to rethink and develop the role of practice, research and arts education in close relationship with the artistic, cultural, scientific and educational sectors of society. These projects recognize the centrality of Art and Design in the creation of intercultural dialogues, in the interdisciplinary and critical approaches to teaching and learning processes, in technological transformations and their impact in culture, in critique and in social involvement, in the development of new forms of material or immaterial expression, in enhancing the intangible cultural heritage and in defining policies that affect the cultural and creative sectors.

The research projects are subject to an external assessment process and are financed by research support agencies.

Seed Projects

These are projects with an exploratory character for the development of new research ideas, practices, technologies or methodologies in the scope of Art and Design, on which there are still no previous results, and that have the potential to catapult future research projects at i2ADS. They are carried out individually or collaboratively, with the maximum duration of 18 months.

The seed projects are subject to an internal assessment process by the Scientific Council, supported by i2ADS’ own resources and through applications for occasional support for artistic and scientific events.
