Sílvia Simões, was born in Porto in 1974. She teaches at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto since 2000, where she is currently Assistant Professor in the Drawing Department. He started artistic practice in 1995, which continues, giving particular emphasis to the area of drawing, photography and painting. As a researcher, she is an integrated member of the Institute for Research in Art, Design and Society of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (I2ADS). PhD in 2013 by FBAUP, with the title: Perspectives of Artistic Teaching in the Face of the Challenges of Digital Technology. The teaching of drawing: from the studio to the network. Master in Digital Arts, from the Catholic University in 2001 with the title: “Drawing in the digital age – ruptures and continuities. Graduated in Painting, from FBAUP in 1998. 1997- Scholarship Foundation Gomes Teixeira. Scholarship FCT from 2008 to 2012. Scholarship Foundation Luso Americana in 2013. As a visual artist, she develops work in the field of video, photography, painting and drawing where she crosses the various practices in the realization of her projects, represented in Portugal, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Spain and the Netherlands. highlighting: 2007- “Other Landscapes 2.1” – Fuga pela Escada Gallery, Guimarães, 2012 “Several hypotheses for the same thing”, Galeria Gesto, Porto and 2012- “Five centuries of Drawing in the Collection of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University do Porto “Drawings Center Sé XX and XXI.
