Fabrício Fava is a [digital] product designer and integrated junior researcher at the Research Institute in Art, Design and Society (i2ADS), Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (FBAUP), where he is responsible for the management of digital platforms. He holds a Ph.D. in communication and semiotics (PUCSP 2016) focused on the multidisciplinary relations of design, creativity, games and learning from a systemic perspective. Fabrício is interested in speculative and playful design. Relevant research in the last 5 years includes: ‘Ignitions on educational experiences during the pandemic’ (book chapter, 2021), where he synthesized the educational practices promoted by FBAUP’s academic community during the COVID-19 pandemic; ‘Play to design with Cards GO: a card-based game for game design and creativity’ (book chapter, 2020), in which he explored the use of a card-based game for unleashing creativity and designing games; ‘Playful design, empathy and the nonhuman turn’ (conference paper, 2019); where he proposed an expansion of the interaction design field by looking at interspecies interactions; and ‘Gamificação em debate’ [Discussing gamification] (co-edited book, 2018), in which were published the most relevant studies on gamification in Brazil.
