Cat Martins (They/Them). Degree in Fine Arts – Painting (University of Porto), Master in Arts Education (University of Lisbon), PhD in Education (University of Lisbon. Cat was a PhD Scholar from FCT (2007-2011), Honorary Fellow at the Department of Curriculum and Instruction – Faculty of Education, Madison University, and in 2009 a Visiting Scholar at the Centre for Educational Sociology, University of Edinburgh. Since 2010, they are a Professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts – University of Porto and a researcher at i2ADS – Institute for Research in Art, Design and Society. Cat was the Head of the i2ADS from 2013 to 2019. Link Convenor of the Network 29: Research on Arts education at the European Educational Research Association from 2012 to 2019, being a Convenor of that network since 2019. Co-editor of the Journal Derivas: Research in Arts Education and Board Member of the series Doing Arts Thinking: Arts Practice, Research and Education, at Brill. Currently the research interests are focused on the historicization of the creative child in education, since the end of the eighteenth century until the Post World War II. They are currently working on a funded project on The Historicization of the Creative Child in Education, being the Principal Investigator/Coordinator.
