Andreia Magalhães

Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto

Andreia Magalhães has a PhD from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto, with a thesis on artistic film production in the 1960s and 1970s and its integration into exhibitions and institutional collections. She completed part of her doctoral program at the Museum of Modern Art in New York (MoMA). Since 2000, she has worked in museums and art centers, mainly in collection management and producing exhibitions. In Portugal, she has worked at the Museum of the Faculty of Fine Arts, the Soares dos Reis National Museum and the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art; abroad she has worked at the Netherlands Institute for Media Art / Montevideo, the Museums of Modern Art in New York and San Francisco and the Museum of Contemporary Art at the University of São Paulo. Since 2017 she has been the artistic director of Centro de Arte Oliva in São João da Madeira, where she has curated exhibitions such as Jaime: I saw my female dog with wolves and Light beam: projected sculpture, exposed cinema. She is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto, an integrated researcher at I2ADS, a collaborating researcher at IHA-FCSH-UNL and a member of AICA Portugal.
