Researcher at i2ADS since 2021 and an FCT grantee in the PhD in Art Education at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Porto with the project “The first lesson. Maria Alzira Monteiro da Cunha: a master in the teaching of Photography in Portugal. 1922/2002”. Graduated in Audiovisual Communication by IPP (2003) and Master in Photography and Documentary Cinema, Specialization in Photography and Documentary Cinema by the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (2010), with the theoretical-practical project in the field of Photography entitled “The world of small things- images of a paused time”. Since 2003 teacher in the field of image (theory and practice). Guest professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Porto between 2003 and 2008 in the area of ¿¿Photography and Interdisciplinary Projects and professor of Photography and Image and Sound at the Soares dos Reis Artistic School in Porto between 2013 and 2020. Photographer in the areas of reportage – press and institutional – and stage photography since 1999. In recent years developed the photographic series “Portraits of a paused moment” and “Mademoiselle” and since March 2020 has been writing about photographic theory for the digital platform “efecetera”. Master in Audiovisual Communication, Photography and Documentary Cinema branch at the Polytechnic Institute of Porto.

Abstract
“The teaching of Photography in Portugal is the subject of this investigation. The photographic pedagogy at Escola Artística Soares dos Reis in Porto is the main focus, the material archive of the photography department its working tool and the legacy of Master Maria Alzira Monteiro is the narrative conductor. This research aims to put into perspective a History of the teaching of Photography, configuring the archive as an axis for a theoretical construction is based on historical analysis. The path of Mestre Maria Alzira Monteiro allows an integrated approach to technical education, its organic and functioning, its feminine expression and the figure of the Mestre, drawing up a portrait that by demonstrating the epistemological connections between photographic ontology and the teaching of Photography, constitutes a chapter in the narrative of the teaching of photography and the History of Photography in Portugal in the 20th century.”
