Visual artist Sigurður Atli Sigurðsson discusses the development of collaboration through artists books in Iceland from its origins with Swiss artist Dieter Roth and artist group SÚM to his involvement with the medium through Print & Friends and his research project with master students of the IUA. He will showcase a selection of artist books related to the topic along with recently published Dunce magazine, an artist-run publication on performance art and choreography. Sigurður Atli Sigurðsson will bring a small selection of artist books to be displayed at the printmaking studio.

Sigurður Atli Sigurðsson is an Icelandic visual artist who employs drawing, photography and language through the medium of printmaking and print media. His works deal with the transcription of social and behavioural systems and patterns to provide an angle for an alternative reading. The act of reading is ever-present in Sigurður’s work, which connects to his ongoing involvement with artist’s books and publishing. Sigurður is the co-founder of Print & Friends, gallery director of Y gallery in a disused gas station and director of workshops at the Iceland Univeristy of the Arts.
