“Today the term ‘mezzotint’ has surpassed the boundaries of terminology used within the professional art environment. Maybe not every computer user among the millions of users in the contemporary world will know the mezzotint masterpieces created in the eighteenth century, but many of them will surely have heard at least about the filter mezzotint offered by the image processing software Adobe Photoshop. I use mezzotint technique as a form of expression in my art, not because mezzotint is an end itself, but because mezzotint corresponds to my feelings more than other printmaking techniques. Mezzotint doesn’t allow mistakes and focuses my attention. The technological process itself, concentrates my energy that becomes essential part of my work. Furthermore this labour-consuming process is a testing time that proves the viability of the idea.”

“My meditative observation of nature is closely linked to the medium of screen printing. Screen printing adapts to the surface organically and surrenders to the artist’s will, as well as offering accidents as seed capital for a new adventures. The first impulse is non-verbal, recorded in hunches not sketches, while the result manifests itself as the interplay between structure and colour. From a distance, it is reminiscent of urban plans or rural territories, espied during the flight of a bird. Lattices, constellations of stars, galaxies… However, these could just as well be perceived as conscious attempts to capture the elusive, to catch non-text, and give it a certain form with brief sentences, weaving grids within the infinite flow”.
