Orlando Vieira Francisco is a visual artist and collaborative researcher of i2ADS (FBAUP/Portugal). Brazilian, born in 1986, lives and works in Porto, Portugal. Graduated from civil engineering, in 2018 he completed the PhD in Art and Design at FBAUP. He investigated how authoritarian policies are present in urban infrastructure, symbolic monumentalities and institutional structures. In 2014, he held a MA degree in Art and Design for the Public Space on political expressions of multitudes in public space. He is a member of the research group The Spatial Cluster (linked to the European Forum of Advanced Practices) and he is taking part in the Municipal Ateliers program organized by the Porto City Council. He works in different art and political collectives in Portugal, Austria Belgium and Brazil. Recently, he has working on the coordination of the project “From the top of mountains we can see invisible monuments”, divided into different departments, located in different cities. He works within the themes of production of social space between art and politics, the landscape as a concept of constant change and practices of environmental and social activism.
