O xadrez como metáfora para pensar a crise nas humanidades

The last few decades have been marked by strong tensions between the “official historiographical discourse” and alternative ways of narrating human events. This tension has been particularly obvious in the field of Art, leading to the emergence of several distinct strategies that integrate disparate narratives and challenge the official model. In this article, I use a set of chess concepts to analyze some of the strategies employed during this period of crisis, such as “playing with black pieces”, “minority attack”, “Chess960”. These concepts, used as metaphors, add heuristic value to the understanding of social phenomena. This approach, I believe, will enhance the model based on analogy, a type of analysis that currently prevails in the anthropological sciences and social research.
