Visual literacy and art education: some perspectives and their educational implications

At school, the concept of visual literacy is usually related to the visual arts subjects. However the visual images and the visuality are not exclusive to these subjects and images are a powerful medium of learning. In this text I will try to outline different perspectives of visual literacy, connect them with some findings of my research project and sketch some educational implications of that.
