Artistic Expressions in the Schools of the Quilombo’s Community at Conceição das Crioulas

Conceição das Crioulas is a community located in Pernambuco’s outback. It has matured in a poignant political and identity consciousness by adopting a nothing-to-hide construction of shared and discussed values. This approach aims to develop methods and flexible strategies for the construction and affirmation of Quilombola identity by reclaiming and restituting land ownership, the right to access education and healthcare – overall, a participated democracy that envisions a richer purpose of living. In the Education field there is an achievement and consolidation of the Pedagogical Political Project, which contemplates Specific, Differentiated or Intercultural Quilombola Education. Regarding Artistic Education, the community sought to integrate the different artistic areas in its curriculum, in an intercultural partnership with IDENTIDADES. In this framework, the project ‘artistic expressions in the schools of the community’ aims to foster a constructive and participated discussion of an Artistic Curriculum. The presentation of the project in this encounter seeks a reflection that develops and reshapes its understanding, favoring the accomplishment of children and youth development and the community’s future.
