(Português) A expressividade do betão: aplicação de técnicas de impressão

Th is work aims to test the effi ciency of a group of printing techniques applied to concrete. It is based on the usual university practice of printmaking within a strictly artistic perspective using its scope of techniques in order to study the biggest possible amount of cases. The printing techniques usually applied on paper were also tested on a new kind of printed support, viz. cement-based material. It lies in a multidisciplinary and cooperative investigation engaging Architecture, Engineering and Fine Arts, developing from the systematization of continuous and easy-to-handle production, by exploring several techniques: etching, litography and relief. Additionally, there is a continuous adjustment of the concrete mixture and some problems are identifi ed in order to be solved, towards obtaining na adjusted prototype, aiming at its application at na international exhibition context. Having as criteria both functional and esthetic parameters, it was possible to select a specific technique and matching concrete system which best represents the potential in binding printmaking techniques to other types of printed supports. Under a functional and esthetic analysis, it is possible to choose a technique and a concrete mixture which suit best the aimed parameters – image transfer, legibility and durability – broadening not only the scope of printing techniques but also the range of transferring images into concrete. Th roughout the wide manufacturing of a varied group of images printed in paper and concrete, it is shown how traditional printmaking processes permit to introduce creatively new expressive possibilities of finishing into concrete production, thus verifying its applicability
