Biography

Teresa Luzio is a visual and performance artist with particular interest in the relationship between the ephemeral and perpetual (actions and it's remains). Determined by an interdisciplinary process, her art works are marked by an action, triggered and defined by the context she's living, and what remains from that. She often starts from something that seems concrete whether that be a place, an object or a situation and then disrupt its established form as a way to experience things. Observation and interpretation of the facts are an important part of the process, as a way to aesthetically, create experience. Her performances are positioned between ambivalent actions such as ‘to build a wall knowing it will fall’ or ‘to lose to find’, and a series of narrative experiments oscillating between subjective documents or fragments. The performances occur either in studio or outdoor, and normally there is no public attending the actions, or their presence is by chance. Teresa Luzio, 1976. Degree in Graphic Design - ESAD.CR, IPL. Master of Fine Arts in Public Art and New Artistic Strategies, at Bauhaus University of Weimar. Assistant Professor at ESAD.CR, since 2008.
